Week 1 Menu and Grocery Guide by “Modern Parents Messy Kids”


Ok, Here it is, the grocery list for Week 1. The recipes, which you can find below, are easy to make and pretty delicious, and I followed the grocery list EXACTLY and saved a lot.!ImageImageImage

Produce section:
Shredded lettuce or head of lettuce
1 bag spinach or romaine salad mix
Arugala (optional)
2 cucumbers
Large bag baby or regular carrots
2 medium onions
8 medium tomatoes
1 red onion
1 red pepper
Fresh basil
Grape tomatoes
Fresh ginger
5-6 large potatoes
2 lemons (or lemon juice)
2 heads broccoli
1 bunch asparagus
Green onions
Meat section:
3 lb. lean ground turkey
2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1 lb. skinless salmon fillet
1 lb. lean ground chicken breast
2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breast or 3-4 lb. chicken
Dairy section:
1 carton eggs
1 container plain low-fat yogurt (eliminate this if you’re dairy free or try coconut milk yogurt)
1 container plain whole-milk Greek yogurt (same as above)
Parmesan cheese (optional, eliminate if you’re dairy free)
Shredded cheddar cheese (eliminate this to go dairy free)
Frozen section:
Frozen sweet potato fries
Frozen corn
Aisles:
Whole wheat tortillas (gluten free -brown rice tortillas)
Taco seasoning package
Mango peach salsa
Brown rice or package of instant rice
Whole wheat pasta (or gluten free pasta)
Hummus
Pasta sauce or Pesto sauce, 8.1 oz. jar (we like Classico’s Traditional Basil Pesto)
Tomato paste
Long-grain white rice (or brown rice)
Italian-style seasoned bread crumbs (or gluten free bread)
Whole wheat sandwich thins or buns (or gluten-free bread)
On hand?:
Salt
Pepper
Butter, margarine or Earth Balance spread
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Garlic cloves or minced garlic
Curry powder
Ground cumin
Parsley
Honey
Soy sauce
Cooking spray
Brown mustard
Oregano
Thyme
Ketchup
BBQ sauce
